Jacflashion: The Urban Turban

Trend Watch: The Urban Turban

The turban, first seen as a popular Middle Eastern headgear, has come back for yet another round. We've seen the turban on Prada's Spring/Summer 2007 runways, and then again crowning the dome of the fashionable Carrie Bradshaw in the Sex and the City 2 movie in 2010. Now it has finally made its way off the runways and the big screens and onto to the streets. The turban comes in many shapes, sizes, colors, and patterns, but it always manages to steal the spotlight. So how would you incorporate this trend with your wardrobe? The turban can be worn with both loose fitting and fitted clothing, even wearing it with embellished tops or harem pants can bring a more cultured feel to your outfit. Still a little too boring? Statement jewelry such as button or drop earrings, costume necklaces, and bangles all tie in perfectly with a turban. Bold eyebrows and a great shade of lipstick will frame your face and fully complete your look. If you're having a hard time finding a turban a scarf can be used, and remember, trends as risky as the fashion turban can be hard to pull off and are best paired with confidence!

How to tie a turban:

You will need:
-1 square-shaped scarf

Step 1 - Take a square-shaped scarf and fold it in half in the shape of a triangle.
Step 2 - Place the scarf over your head with the flat side at the nape of your neck and the right-angled corner towards your forehead.
Step 3 - Take the corners on either side and tie them over the right-angled corner
Step 4 - Take the same two corners and tie them around the back of your head tightly.
Step 5 - Take the remaining middle corner and tuck it over and under the top knot. Finish by tucking in any loose or stray pieces.
